Demo at Baluwatar; human rights activists including Pahadi held

KATHMANDU, Dec 10: Police have arrested human rights activists including Krishna Pahadi on the charge of demonstrating in front of the Prime Minister’s Official Residence in Baluwatar on Monday.

The protestors were taken under control while they were advancing toward the Prime Minister’s residence crossing the restricted zone, holding a banner reading “Failure to Book Nirmala’s Culprit Constitutes Government’s Ineptitude”.

Organized by the Human Rights and Shanti Samaj, in the demonstration, the participants demanded with the government to immediately book Nirmala’s perpetrator and stop all forms of violence against women, terming them as ‘heinous crime’.

Various organizations, parties and individuals have been staging sit-ins and demonstrations time and again to pile pressure on the government to bring the culprit involved in the rape of murder of Nirmala Panta to justice, a 13-year-old girl who had been ruthlessly murdered after rape in Kanchanpur back in July.

The government is still clueless about the Nirmala case even after four and a half months, questioning the efficiency of the government.
